Named for the Ukrainian city scarred by war, avdiivka brings the threat of drone warfare into sharp focus. The small glowing balls represent explosive FPV drone pellets, scattered among skull-like forms in a restless field of blue and violet. Their bright colour draws the eye before their meaning becomes clear. The painting asks us to look beyond the distant view of a battlefield and consider the lives caught beneath it.
